Gathering Dreams evolved from a solo project of Tero Kangasmaa, founded back in 2004. After a few years of experimenting, he decided to settle with composing and playing music with progressive influences. In the spring of 2008 a rumor of this "dream" came out and Ilkka Oksanen contacted Tero and asked if he was in a need of a drummer.
