Small Life Within was started in the Summer of 2006 as a temporary improvised project for one show by Zach Leeson. He then contacted people he had hand-picked for the project, which led to the current lineup. The first practice started out as a bizarre electro-funk session, as they tend to do with the people in the band, but quickly changed into a very calm ambient atmosphere.
